Responsabilities

  • Part of the management team that handles the budget and initiatives regarding Agile Process implementation and overall technical training and events. Reporting directly to the CEO.
  • Responsible for relationship with universities, acting as an invited lecturer at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
  • Manage all the processes, technical development and operations for TV Globo's digital media assets and applications properties through the company's Internet branch: Globo.com.
  • Integrate all efforts of making streaming media content available on the Internet, meeting with TV Globo's quality standards
  • Conceive and implement forms of integrating web and media applications with mobile solutions, acting as an internal technical advisor on all related issues
  • Research new technologies and adapt them to the company strategic plan, guaranteeing the fits with the minimum requirements, such as add value and interaction with the TV Shows and Programs and other Internet only applications.

Main accomplishments

  • Coordinate Implementation of the SCRUM methodology at Globo.com, which started a culture change in the whole company and created a more productive and quality oriented environment.
  • Multiformat digital media transcoding system, allowing the company to add new video codecs and formats in production in a matter of minutes. Formats produced nowadays include iPhone H.264 w/ AAC+, Sorenson w/MP3, H263 w/ AMR and DV 25Mbps for archiving.
  • User Generated Content platform integrated with TV Globo’s playout and production system, allowing users to send video content to TV Globo shows.
  • Developed and implemented the whole infrastructure migration from Microsoft Windows Media to Adobe Flash Media Platform in just 35 days, the format change generated about 300% increase in the video audience.
  • Redesigned the new chat system from scratch, using a totally new chat engine system 200% faster than the previous engine and fully integrated with other Globo.com's products and TV Shows.
  • Implementation of automated tests, TDD and continuous integration best practices in the development process increasing reasonably the software quality.
  • Designed and implemented TV Globo's 2006 World Cup Internet project, including, for the first time in Latin America, live broadcast of all the 64 matches, with more than 24000 minutes of online video content. Integrating the AKAMAI delivery solution was prepared to reach up to 100.000 streams and reached more than 8Gbps of traffic.
  • All 8 editions of Big Brother Brazil Reality Show: planned and executed the digital media Internet branch of all the editions of the Big Brother Brazil TV show, which included several “online exclusive” live cameras and massive on demand video production. The Eighth edition reached the highest audience for a Brazilian website with more than 45.000 concurrent streaming users and 12 Gbps of traffic.
  • Implemented quality assurance procedures for streaming audio and video productions, which increased Globo.com's streaming audience over 300% in just 8 months.
  • Increased the broadband video production in 15 times it’s original volume (500 new video files included per day) as a result of the development of a complete and automated content production system, based on a LAMP backend and totally codec agnostic platform, producing H.264, H263 and Sorenson for Globo's Flash Video Player and integrated with the streaming media distribution infrastructure, the content management system and the editorial teams in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Recife.
  • Increased the broadband video production in 15 times it's original volume (500 new video files included per day) as a result of the development of a complete and automated content production system, totally codec agnostic platform, producing H.264, H263 and Sorenson for Globo's Flash Video Player and integrated with the streaming media distribution infrastructure, the content management system and the editorial teams in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Recife.
  • Conceived and integrated all the Internet broadcast operations for TV Globo, Globo Radio Network, GloboSat and Globo.com.
  • Project of the NBA Live broadcast product. For the first time ever, the NBA is doing Live broadcast streaming of the games outside US.
  • Implementation of the Quova Geo Location security system for the whole streaming media infrastruture integrating it with the authorization system already in use, for the NBA, NFL and World Cup content.
